Workshop: Different designs of clinical trials
Educating clinicians about different clinical trial designs is essential for accurate interpretation of evidence, critical appraisal of literature, and optimal patient care. Understanding trial methodology directly impacts the ability to assess validity, generalizability, and applicability of results, especially as novel designs become more prevalent in precision medicine and oncology.
The aim of this workshop is to review currently used designs (including umbrella and basket) for clinical trials, by describing their characteristics, their advantages and disadvantages, using practical examples.
The workshop on clinical trials will be led by Prof. Tabassome Simon, a distinguished Professor of Medicine and Clinical Pharmacology at Sorbonne Université and Head of Clinical Pharmacology at Saint-Antoine Hospital in Paris. She also leads the Clinical Research Platform of East Paris, supporting hundreds of national and international multicenter studies across medical specialties. Dr. Simon is internationally recognized for her contributions to cardiovascular research, clinical trials, and pharmacology education, with over 340 publications in leading journals.
